So before we dive in let me ask a fundamental question to make sure we're on the same page...
QUESTION: What if you woke up tomorrow morning feeling like you had things HANDLED? What would need to change today?
Is it easy to come up with a list of things that you deal with like productivity, tech problems, copywriting, systems, innovation, sales, marketing, blah, blah.
For business owners... the default is to think of all the stuff that's wrong with the business.
But maybe, just maybe, your real obstacle isn't that at all...
Maybe those are just symptoms of something else that lurks beneath the surface of it all.
I don't know much about you yet... but I bet that if we waived a magic wand over the symptoms in your business that you'd uncover a core cause which has nothing to do with business at all.
Here's why...
Your business has your DNA all over it.
It's driven by YOU, your guts.
That fact alone reveals the terrible irony that if there are symptoms to be seen, the cause can usually be found in the one common denominator.
Queue some classic Michael Jackson... "I'm starting with the man in the mirror..."
That's kind of a brilliant analogy here because we both know that business is a brutally honest reflection of how we show up in life.
No escaping that. So let's just be real about it.
Sometimes it's easy to see that reflection and start pointing fingers at the symptoms, while ignoring the cause.
But let's look past the symptoms because superficial answers very rarely tell the true struggle.
Maybe on the surface things seem great (err... at least that's what we tell everybody), but in the quiet of the night... the Facebook Version of things isn't exactly what you think about while laying awake is it?
Nope, it ain't.
We silently punish ourselves... not for sales and marketing...
but for messing up again and again and again.
For hitting the snooze button. For waking up late. For staying out late. For missing the soccer game. For leaving dinner cold. For missing another workout. For eating poorly because time slipped away. For not eating at all. For forgetting to send flowers. For missing a journal entry. For...
The embarrassing blemish. The sore spot. The flaw. The weakness. The "what if they found out that..." The "why can't I just get myself to..." kind of stuff.
Maybe for you, it sounds like it did for a friend of mine the other day:
"Dude, I feel like I'm 'always on' man. Work follows me to bed. It's the first thing I check when I wake up. Gosh, my stupid iPhone. I can never get a breather to clear my head.
And even if I do, I feel guilty all the time. I feel guilty even while I'm working too because I'm not as productive as I could be you know? I probably procrastinate too much. But the thing is... I feel guilty when I'm home relaxing with my family too because I didn't get much done and I feel like I need to make up for it ya know? But I know I need to give my family more, it's just hard. I hate it.
Stupid thing is that it's like I know what I should be doing though. I just can't get myself to do it. What if I could just give myself some ME time in the morning to take care of myself and start the day in control instead of checking my phone while laying in bed?
Man, that would change EVERYTHING."
Yep, get just that ONE personal thing HANDLED and it changes everything else, in a hurry. Especially your business.
So why are we focused on 100 symptoms when the one core change, the big leap forward, is right in front of us?
It's the truth nobody seems to want to talk about...
THE PRINCIPLE: One simple core tweak is the little hinge that swings very, very big doors and it has nothing to do with your business.
Change yourself, change your business. [Queue some more MJ again]
Like my friend, you probably already know what that ONE thing is. Even if you don't, I'll help you nail it.
What is it? What's your ONE thing?
Could be getting up early, going to bed early, eating better, sleeping better, working out, meditation, journaling, prayer, study, reading books... Anything.
Whatever that thing is... (so long as it's the right thing) put that thing in the cross hairs, pull the trigger, then watch what happens.
Are you game?

So what's the hold up? Why don't you just do that?

That's where all the wheels fall off ain't it? How do you get the human being to do the things that are most meaningful in life? The things with the most resistance?
