The Default, But Secret Double Life of Successful Entrepreneurs Exposed
No matter the level of outward success one dude has on LinkedIn (or Facebook or whatever)… There’s a story that nobody sees… but all of us understand.
Reminds me of something.
Do you play golf? If you do, you’ll know what “bogey golfer” means.
So here’s a thing: What usually happens to a bogey golfer after he birdies the first hole?
I’ll get to that in a second because you know… sometimes in business we feel like a bogey golfer who dreams of finishing under par for once.
So how is life treating you now that your business is making multi-six or seven figs? (If you’re just starting out in business, this may not make as much sense).
“Stuff” hits the fan. All kinds of stuff.
You could have never known things could get like this.
- No matter how low the gas tank or how short the fuse is, people want more of you. They want more from you. More time. More money. More answers… and you are forced to perform despite the personal cost of burning at both ends. Burn out might be close?
- Your growth is a matter of making critical decisions quickly and producing consistently and team building and processes and automation and removing waste and bottle necks (i.e. YOU)… but you can’t seem to do anything quickly because overwhelm’s got you on lock down.
- Needs show up out of nowhere and they’re expensive… things that were never issues before. So you poke around a bit for solutions and all of a sudden vendors are pitching big ticket services right and left like a swarm of cash-sucking mosquitoes to a patch of exposed skin on a humid August night down on the Bayou.
- Cash comes in and goes out so fast it leaves you doubting everything and thinking like your whole deal is skating around on thin ice and the lake is drying up underneath. One misstep and it could all come crashing down.
It’s no secret once you hit major benchmarks in a business…. doesn’t matter whether it’s cracking six, seven or eight figs… it seems like everything changes.
A new league. New heights. New problems. Hours increase. Stress increase.
No worries. Just suck it up and plow through.
Grind.
You’ve gotta step up for the business to breakthrough. Level up. Sacrifice.
That’s just business right?… until it’s not.
iPhone off, in the quiet of the night… it’s clear that what you care about gets neglected. YOU? Family? Kids? Peace? Time? Freedom? Golf?
Right then you realize you can’t live this double life anymore… Biz guy vs. Private guy.
All the outward success seems fake. A fake life. Temporary. Because somewhere along the way something inside you was lost. Completely lost.
Something has to change, but what?
It’s actually quite simple (thank goodness).
